Sometimes buying a bottle of sauce seems to be the easy option.
But I can honestly say making your own Sweet & Sour Sauce is not only quick and easy but you can double the portions and store some in the fridge or freezer for those nights when you have no time or inclination to make anything 🙂
We use our sauce to make Sweet & Sour Pork and sometimes my husband likes sweet and sour sauce on the base of an Hawaiin Pizza. You can add pineapple chunks, diced carrot and diced capsicum to your sauce while simmering if your prefer it chunky.
This recipe is a dump in a medium sized saucepan, stir and simmer recipe. It does not come any easier.
IngredientsÂ
- 2 Cups of Pineapple Juice
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar (You can substitute for honey – you will need 1/2 cup)
- 6 Tablespoons of Ketcup or Tomato Paste
- 4 Tablespoons Light Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Cup Rice or White Vinegar
- 3 Tablespoons of cornflour dissolved in 4 tablespoons of water
Give the ingredients a good whisk then allow to simmer until thickened – making sure to stir occasionally.
Thermomix Instructions
