I have always loved fresh warm Cinnamon donuts – but since having my gall bladder removed they do not love me 🙁 It is also quite sickening when you read on the internet what they actually put in their pre-packaged donut mix. This recipe is a variation on a Cinnamon Donut recipe I found in the book that came with my mini donut maker. Not only are they made using wholemeal flour and the batter is free from refined sugar but they are also not fried in oil 🙂
- 1 cup Wholemeal Atta Flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup of milk (I use Lactose Free but any milk is fine)
- 1/4 cup pure Maple Syrup
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Sift flour, cinnamon and baking powder into a mixing bowl. Whisk in egg, milk, maple syrup and butter. Continue to whisk until combined and fluffy (2-3 minutes). Spoon mixture into a piping bag and pipe mixture into your pre-heated donut maker. Serve warm with a sprinkle of cinnamon. My girls have more of a sweet tooth than me so I sprinkle some Organic Coconut Sugar over theirs. Enjoy – we all do 🙂
